Is necessary to understand the Cross-culture (Culture Paradigms) concept in the TESOL Class?

Is necessary to understand the Cross-culture (Culture Paradigms) concept in the TESOL Class?
Studying the material
from BYU about cultural paradigms, Weight and Beauty - Delali Bright, and Cultural
Differences in National Geographic, impacted my current perceptions and showed
me what thoughts I may need to shift as I prepare to teach: " We live in a
world with different religions, foods, customs, traditions, and thoughts, as
TESOL teachers we need to understand that concept, is very different a class
with students from the same culture than a multiculturally class".
The challenges and
successes in a TESOL classroom are different for each teacher. The classes with
Cross-culture and each English level are calling to us to create good lesson
plans that permit connecting the students with the second language and culture.
But are all the teachers
ready to confront the cross-culture from students with another native language?
Well, the TESOL teachers, of course, it's an essential topic in our training,
but what happens with professional's teachers from another area? probably the
cross-culture topic is required training for each teacher or professional. probably the cross-culture topic is required
training for each teacher or professional. We know is a challenge for each
student when arriving in a new country: The language, customs, and culture,
always produce a crash; also, for the native resident is an Ice wall, the two
parts are frozen for afraid to be offense the other culture, sometimes the
student can finish feeling isolated. Simple
solution: All teachers TESOL or Not, should know basic concepts and the
traditions of the immigrants that live in their country, to achieve a great
connection with the student, and collaborate in his adaptation to the learning
process.

I agree with what you said about getting to know the students. It is so important to understand the diverse cultures that will be in your classroom. Everyone has access to the internet so that is a saving grace. Looking back on my experience learning a new culture in the United States, I wish I would have had a teacher who did a little research and got to know my culture and spoke to me about it. It would have made me feel like my country was important too.
